Dear Library: From Nina

retired (for the most part)

Dear Library,

Once upon a time, 50 years ago, I would walk through any kind of weather to get to the library. Sounds like a fairy tale, but true! I went to Putnam Elementary and we would climb Putnam hill (the entire class!) to go to the library. It seemed like the biggest building EVER! The librarian would always have the perfect book picked to read to us and I would sit in awe and listen. The cool, quiet, safe atmosphere wrapping itself around us like a favorite blanket. Times have changed (as they should). New library (really big), air-conditioned, all the new electronics, etc. but my heart will always be back in that library that I had to hike to 50 years ago.
