My love of the library started at a very young age. My mother was an avid reader and taught me to read by the time I was 4 years old. Every Saturday morning we’d walk to the library at it’s location in the Opera House buildingin Nelsonville.
We’d each check out 6-7 books for the week and lug them home. During the week we would spend many hours quietly reading our own books and with my Mom and I reading those that I picked out. I remember crying when the fire destroyed our special place. Over the years as my mother’s vision began to worsen we were very thankful for the audiobooks and device she had access to through the library system. Her love for reading never waned and even without being able to visually read a book, she was able to enjoy her passion. Today I am a patron at both The Plains and Nelsonville branches, as well as the digital lending project. Thank you for giving me years of joy and precious memories of time with my Mother.
