Donate to the Library
Monetary donations
Financial donations are accepted at all of the public libraries in Athens County. Donations of any size are welcomed and earmarks may be suggested. All monetary donations are reviewed by the Board of Trustees. If you wish to make a large donation or bequeath, please contact the Library Director, Lauren Miller.
The Friends of the Athens Public Library also accept donations. Donations to the Friends specifically support activities and facilities at the Athens library. Donations to the Friends are tax-deductable.
Materials donations
The libraries gladly accept donations of new and gently-used books, videos, music, and audio books, and magazine and newspaper subscriptions. Not all donations, however, are added to the library’s collections. Materials not cataloged will be sold in the library’s used book sales. Proceeds from book sales benefit the library’s programming and other activities.
Memorials
Donations may be made to the library in memory of friends or loved ones or on behalf of an organization. The Director will consult with you to purchase books or materials of interest to the individual or group. Customized memorial plates are added to each item in recognition of the donation. For more information, contact the Library Director, Lauren Miller.
Equipment donations
The library occasionally accepts donations of furniture, computer equipment, etc. Please contact the Branch Manager at your local branch for more information.
