Magazines and Newspapers
A broad array of current magazines and newspapers can be found in our libraries. Through OPLIN and the internet, patrons have access to online databases of newspapers and magazines. Back issues of several magazines can be found on microfiche at the main library in Nelsonville Library.
Large print books
Several thousand books are available in large print for those individuals who prefer this easier-to-read format. The books cover many different genres, and are available at all locations.
Reference
All seven libraries have collections of encyclopedias, dictionaries, almanacs, and other reference materials for use in the library. Materials designated as reference cannot be checked out. Ask a librarian for help finding copies of reference materials which can be checked out.
Childrens
All of our libraries have books for children, including picture books, reference books, nonfiction for children of all ages, and fiction for the older child. A collection of children's books and stories on audio cassette is also available.
Story times and toddler times are offered for young children during the school year at several libraries. Check our Events page for the current schedule.
Every summer, the Library offers unique and fun summer Book Camp programs. Ask for more information at your library.
Young Adult
The Young Adult collection has a variety of materials for young people ages 12-18. Included are popular and current fiction titles in both paperback and hardcover, current non-fiction titles, books on tape, teen magazines, graphic novels, comics, and manga. If you don't see what you want, please let us know. For homework, personal interests, or reading for fun, teen friendly librarians are available to answer questions, help with book selection or get you started with your research.
Local History
Many items of local historical interest are found in our libraries. Items designated as Local History cannot be checked out, although there may be copies of some local history titles which can be checked out. The main library in Nelsonville houses a variety of local history materials in a special collection, including death and census records and local high school yearbooks. Audio Books
Most branches have collections of audio books, on cassette or CD. These items cover many different areas, including fiction, non-fiction, and biography. Many are complete and unabridged. The library limits each patron to 10 audio books at a time. The library also offers downloadable digital audio books.
Compact Discs
Several libraries have collections of music CDs, including classical, world, and rock music. Patrons may check out up to 10 CDs at a time.
